Jameel Motorsport Joins Toyota’s Hydrogen-Powered Hilux participation for Dakar 2027

Jameel Motorsport has joined TOYOTA GAZOO Racing as an official sponsor for the DKR GR FC Hilux team, which will compete in the Dakar Future Mission 1000 category at Dakar Rally 2027.

The participation aims to test hydrogen fuel cell technology under the extreme conditions of rally competition, pushing the technology’s limits to gauge its readiness for wider adoption.

Built on Toyota’s proven Dakar-winning Hilux platform, the DKR GR FC Hilux replaces its petrol engine with a hydrogen fuel cell system that emits no CO2, its only tailpipe output is water.

Through the sponsorship, Jameel Motorsport will contribute to the DKR GR FC Hilux participation alongside DENSO, TOYO TIRES and IAV, supporting its development and preparation ahead of its Dakar debut. 

The collaboration reflects Jameel Motorsport’s commitment to supporting innovation and the future of motorsport, while contributing to the development of hydrogen mobility in Saudi Arabia and beyond, in support of Saudi Vision 2030’s ambition to establish the Kingdom as a leading global hydrogen hub.
